SEMESTER 2 - NOW FINAL

FINAL Sem 2 Grades are here. Look at the "SEM 2 GRADE" for the grade that will show up on your report card (it factors in whether you got to drop your lowest test score). This is stated both at the bottom of the "Summary Item" section as well as the bottom of the "Term 2 Assignments" section.
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!

GRADES AND MAKEUP WORK

Current grades are posted here in the grades section.
The only thing left to be put in is the ANTSR report grade, any study-group log hours, and the final.
If you have questions about your grade, or need to give me makeup work, you must do it ASAP!!
FRIDAY june 5 is the LAST DAY to talk to me or give me late or makeup work.
After that, the only thing I will accept is the study group log, which you can give to me up to the day of the final.

Rube Goldberg Project!

The Guidelines for the machine, report, presentation and grading of the machine are attachements at the bottom of the page.

This year's the Rube Goldberg Machines will all accomplish one task - Create/Produce a smiley face in an 8.5"x11" area. This is so that we can compete at UCD Picnic Day in the Rube Goldberg competition put on by the Engineering Fraternity - Theta Tau. For the official UCD rules go HERE.

The winning 1-3 teams from the Davis High competition will go one to compete at Picnic Day against UCD Engineering for a $100 prize. So make your Rube Goldbergs Awesome!!

In order to compete in the UCD competition your machine must meet the following guidelines (in addition to meeting the requirements listed in the Rube Goldberg Overview document attached below):

Bring a Bike on Wed/Thurs for an infinite grade boost.

We will be using bicycles to figure out our power output on the block day this week (wed/thurs). So if you have a bike (or even a scooter, or rollerblades, or a unicycle, whatever - a small gas/battery powered scooter or bike would be really cool), bring it in for 1 point of EC. Park it in the bike rack near my classroom so it is easily accessible from class.

*fine print: 1 point of extra credit, divided by the zero total points in the gradebook for the new semester gives you an essentially infinite grade to start off the new semester (yes, that is equal to an A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++)

**finer print - yes I am aware that 1/0 is technically undefined. Lets just assume your grade would assymptotically approach infinity, shall we?

Hovercraft at the Kings Game!!

Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!

Tonight is the night that the hovercraft will be presented during half time at the Kings-Wizards Game.  Our team worked really hard on building the craft and it looks really cool (purple flames!). Tim (the team member randomly selected to represent us at the game) will have 30 seconds to convince the crowd that they should vote for us, so tune in during half time to see it!

The game airs tonight (wed) at 7pm on CSCA (channel 34 on comcast cable).

I'll let you know when the online voting portion starts so that you can help support your physics classmates and your school!

Welcome to the new website!!

Heeeey kids!
I thought I would try out a new way of doing the website. This is a new system, so if there are bugs, let me know!
I hope that this new system will allow for quicker updates, more student use, and greater interaction potential.
If you have suggestions or anything, please let me know.
Cheers,
ZR
